The Secret To Flawless Mature Makeup

justdoingmybest

Achieving a smooth, flawless finish can be challenging as our skin changes over the years. Mature skin comes with issues such as dryness, fine lines, and uneven texture which can make it difficult for makeup to look its best. Fortunately, makeup primer is a game-changing product that can help address these challenges and enhance your overall look. Today we’ll do a deep dive into the many benefits of makeup primer for mature skin, tips on selecting the right one, and how to apply it for maximum effect.

Application is crucial when applying primer. Obviously applying skincare and sunscreen first and allowing it to set will give your skin a great base to apply your primer smoothly. You also want to use the right amount-more isn't better, and with most primers you only need a pea size amount for your entire face. Once you’ve applied the primer, wait a few minutes before moving on to foundation. Letting the primer "set up" allows it to fully activate, ensuring your makeup adheres better.

A good primer can fill in fine lines, make pores less noticable, create a smooth and even surface for foundation, and give your makeup staying power. You want to find a primer that works with your skin, and addresses the issues you have. Navigating the various primer options can be a bit overwhelming, and there are some things you need to narrow down the best primer for your skin. From hydrating primers to color-correcting primers, there are a ton to pick from. The first step is deciding which type you want to use based on your skin. If you need help with texture and fine lines, then a silicone based primer is a great option as it fills and smoothes everything out. If you have mature oily skin (like I do), you may want a mattifying primer to keep the shine at bay. Once you have determined what your skin needs, picking a primer becomes a little easier.

I've tried so many primers, but wanted to share a few that I really like.

First up, the Colour Pop Pretty Fresh Makeup Primer which is a hydrating primer that also works as a burring primer. Its packed with great skincare ingredients like niaminicide which smooths the look of skin and hyaluronic acid which deeply hydrates skin. You only need a pea size, and it really does combat shine and keeps my skin hydrated.

Another primer I love is the NYX Blurscreen with SPF 30. I use this one more during the warmer months, as it also has an SPF. This cruelty-free product keeps my makeup in place all day long, and it's definitely my go-to when I want to keep my makeup in place when the temps are rising.

I also have been loving the Rare Beauty Pore Diffusing Makeup Primer. This primer is a hydrating, gel primer that blurs the look of pores and fine lines, while also extending makeup wear, and helps fight shine all day. I've been using this for a few weeks and have loved it each time I use it.

I'd love for you to check out my latest video, where I chat about primers and you can see how I apply it. I've linked up all the products used in today's video below.

Understanding your mature skin’s unique needs, selecting the right primer, and applying it correctly can unlock a flawless, youthful appearance. The next time you prepare to apply your makeup, remember the importance of primer. Embrace this powerful tool and enjoy the boost of confidence that comes from a beautifully smooth and radiant complexion.
