What is the difference between Skin Tint and Foundation? Mature skin undergoes significant changes that can influence its appearance and texture. This makes finding makeup that provides good coverage, while maintaining a natural look sometimes challenging. Enter skin tints! Skin tints deliver lightweight options that hydrate the skin and offer coverage without the heaviness of traditional foundations, as well as skin loving ingredients. (Your skin, but better!)

In this blog post, I'm sharing three excellent choices for mature skin: Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hr Skin Tint, NYX Buttermelt Glaze Skin Tint, and Elf Halo Skin Tint.

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hr Skin Tint

Starting with my very favorite, the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hr Skin Tint stands out for those seeking a long-lasting, lightweight formula with light to medium coverage. It contains a blend of hydrating ingredients designed specifically for dry, mature skin, making it easy to wear. The breathable feel makes this ideal for everyday use. I always come back to this one, and it looks amazing no matter what, even in heat and humidity.

NYX Buttermelt Glaze Skin Tint

NYX is famous for its fun and colorful products, and the Buttermelt Glaze Skin Tint fits right in. It features a lighter coverage, creamy texture that melts seamlessly into the skin, creating a soft, slightly radiant finish. Its formula is enriched with nourishing oils, which means mature skin stays hydrated throughout the day. Thanks to its hydrating properties, it helps to improve skin tone and it specifically avoids clinging to dry patches, making it a solid option for uneven textures.

Elf Halo Skin Tint

Elf Cosmetics is known for its affordability and product variety, making it a favorite for makeup enthusiasts. The Elf Halo Skin Tint is a newer offering. While it is the priciest of the three, you don't need much. It's also clean, hydrating, water resistant and contains mineral SPF 50. It's a medium coverage skin that has a lightweight, airy texture. It feels like almost like wearing nothing at all. It includes skin-loving components like hyaluronic acid, which provides hydration, and vitamin C to brighten the complexion. Please know this does leave a slight glow to the skin. I was able to tone that down with blush and a bit of powder. All that said, despite the higher drugstore price, you're definitely getting your money's worth with this option.

Final Thoughts and Videos

When you select a skin tint, keep in mind your skin type, and the finish you want. I prefer using a brush to apply. With the right skin tint, you can achieve a radiant complexion that celebrates aging beautifully.

I created a video sharing more in-depth thoughts on each one, plus application tips and tricks for getting the best finish. You can see that video here. You can also check out this video where I share my all-time favorite drugstore makeup.
