What is the best makeup setting powder for mature skin? I get asked that quite often.
I love a great setting powder, it's a staple in my makeup arsenal. Since my skin is on the oily side, it really helps keep my makeup in place and keep it from creasing. Does it eliminate all the creasing or settling? Not really. I still notice a tiny bit of creasing every once-in-a-while, but it's greatly reduced when I use setting powder.
In this video, I put some setting powders to the test to see if some of the pricey options are as good as all they hype. The Morphe Bake & Set Soft Focus Setting Powder is a favorite of mine. This talc-free loose powder comes in translucent, or a few other shades. It's also available in a pink color-correcting color. Another one I really like is the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder. This one is lightly pigmented, and comes in more shades than the Morphe does. But, it's a little more expensive at $38. Although I do really like this one, I don't feel like it's much better than the Morphe at keeping my makeup in place and creaseless. The last setting powder I wanted to mention is the Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Setting and Finishing Powder. Each shade option combines four unique colors—so you get two for color correcting and two illuminating shades all in one, which is a big plus. This one goes on beautifully and works great, but I will say I don't find it performs that much better than the less expensive options. While I do love all three of these setting powders, I feel like both the Morphe and Huda Beauty setting powders perform just as well as the more expensive Givenchy powder.
If you need help setting your mature under eye makeup, you can watch the video here to see how I use the powders to set my under eye area. The tools I use are a soft powder brush and/or triangle puff.
Hopefully these tips are helpful and even save you a bit of money if you're considering adding a new setting powder to your makeup bag.
