Research shows that skin cancer cases have risen by over 50% in the last 30 years. For mature skin, which often has different needs, makeup products that contain SPF can be a game changer. That's why I'm sharing some of my favorite makeup that contain SPF. I recently shared a post dedicate to only SPF, if you'd like to start there.
Many makeup products, including foundation, tinted moisturizers, and powders, now come with SPF. Using products that contain SPF, in addition to your actual sunscreen, provide the dual benefits of enhancing your look while also upping your protection.
Choosing the right products is important. Always make sure to read the labels when selecting makeup with SPF. Look for broad-spectrum protection, which means it guards against both UVA and UVB rays. Ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are reliable physical blockers ideal for sensitive mature skin. Also considering your skin type ensures that your makeup enhances rather than hinders your skin’s health.
I have used the DRMTLGY Matte Tinted Moisturizer SPF 46 for awhile now and really love it. It goes on so nicely and provides sheer color coverage. It minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and blends naturally to match every skin tone. I also love that it's a clean formula made in the USA. It's also cruelty free and suitable for most skin types.
Another great product is the NYX Blur Screen SPF 30 Blurring Makeup Primer. This face primer with sunscreen layers seamlessly with foundation, with no flaking or pilling. Infused with coconut & cactus flower extract, this primer blurs imperfections, grips makeup for up to 18-HR wear and helps protect skin with SPF 30. I love that it appears undetectable with no white cast on multiple skin tones & doesn't feel greasy at all. I apply this after my sunscreen or if I'm not going to be in direct sunlight, I can just use this as my sun protection.
Lips are often an area that is overlooked. We often apply SPF and then eat or drink it off during the day. When it comes to sun protection for lips, I love this balm as well as this e.l.f. Sun Boss Gloss SPF 25 delivers the mineral SPF 25 your lips need. The moisturizing formula is infused with conditioning vitamin E and hyaluronic acid and delivers buildable color and a high-shine finish.
This gloss has a delish coconut scent that treats lips to a tropical vacay which is also a big plus.
When applying products that contain SPF, you want to make sure to use an ample amount as to not reduce the effectiveness. Blending the product completely and making sure not to forget any areas like your neck or ears, will make sure you stay radiant and protected!
