I decided it was time to try to answer the question should you use cream or powder blush? And, which is best for mature skin? My opinion may surprise you a bit. Before I share the video, let's go over what products I prefer to use and why.
I have oily skin, and have always found that powder blush looks best on my skin. Lately, this NYX Buttermelt Blush, (color I am using is 02 Butta Together) is a beautiful, bright pink and does have a bit of a glow to it. I don't usually care for much shimmer, as I find it accentuates my fine lines and wrinkles. The glow here is subtle enough to work for me. When I'm using powder blush, I use this brush. It's fluffy and distributes the color perfectly. I will say that I find myself reaching for a powder blush over any other type of blush.
All those cream blushes that are out on the market really influenced me to try one on my skin again. I picked up the Morphie Huephonic 3-in-1 Silk Blush I personally find cream blushes work well on combination or dryer skin types. The type of brush you use is also very important. For cream blushes, you'll want a more dense brush. You'll notice in the video, the brush I use for the cream blush is actually a foundation brush. When applying cream blush, I always lightly tap into the product and then brush some off on the back of my hand or a paper towel. You can always add more, but it's a bit harder to take extra off.
If you're like me, you probably have several blushes in your makeup collection that didn't work out. In the video, I show you how to layer them up to create a more custom color. This is a great way to use up some of those other blushes you have lying around.
Cream blushes often are more moisturizing, which I don't need on my mature oily skin. However, they tend to last a bit longer on the skin. Making them a good choice when you're wearing makeup for an event.
Make sure you check out the video here and you'll see where I tried a very popular new blush balm and share my thoughts on it.
I hope you find this helpful. Feel free ask any questions below in the comments. I appreciate you and would love if you shared these articles and tutorials with other mature friends.
Love and Blessings,
Dawn
