Have you ever had those days (or weeks) when you feel like your mind and body need a day off?
Maybe work has been crazy or your calendar has been so full of obligations, your mind and body are telling you to stop and take a little time to relax, unwind, and recharge your batteries.
Sometimes our schedules get so overwhelming, we feel like we can’t possibly do one more thing!
For me, it seems to happen around the time school is about to get out for summer and then again right after Christmas. The calendar is full of obligations and demands on our time. I feel like I need a day or two to just be still and rejuvenate my mind and my body.
In Part 1 of Mind and Body Rejuvenation, I shared ideas for pampering your body during your “At Home Rejuvenation Day”. This time it’s simple ideas to help you give your mind a day off.
It’s time to hit the reset button and give your mind a mini-vacation.
In part 1, we planned a day at home. No makeup, hair pulled back, comfy clothes. Sounds like heaven already right?
Let’s get started. You may not want to do all of these ideas in one day. This is just a list of several, easy things that can relax and rejuvenate your mind.

Plan Ahead – Just by marking your calendar or setting a reminder on your phone for your rejuvenation day, you’re already giving yourself a boost by visualizing it. Seeing it on your calendar helps set the mood. It gives you something relaxing to look forward to.
Pamper Your Body – When you plan to pamper both your body and your mind all in one day, you’ll go back to work or your “real life” schedule feeling like a new woman.
Pray – Start out the day grateful, prayerful, mindful. Give yourself a few minutes at the beginning of the day to just sit and pray or meditate on your blessings, your health, your family, and this day of relaxation. Today might be a good day to start a Gratitude Journal. This is the one I use.
Music – Turn on the radio, iTunes, whatever you have that will get you moving. For me, I alternate between Contemporary Christian Music and a station that plays music from 80’s, 90’s, 2k. I need something that will put a smile on my face and maybe even cause me to grab a hair brush and start singing. (Not that I’ve ever danced around the house in my bathrobe singing into a hairbrush or anything!)
Podcast – For more motivation or inspiration, download a podcast on your phone. You can type in almost anything in the search and there’s something to suit your mood. There are podcasts for learning, self-improvement, managing your finances, cooking tips, just about anything you can imagine.
Hit play and you can listen while you clean, cook, garden or even while you take a bath.
Declutter – Use this day to be a little productive. If cleaning your entire house on your day off, isn’t your idea of relaxing, I get it. I probably wouldn’t either. But, I usually want to show a little progress at the end of the day. If all you do is declutter a bathroom drawer, it might motivate you to do more on another day.
One of my favorite things to organize is my closet (from left to right, sleeveless, short sleeves, long sleeves, jackets, etc.) and get matching hangers. I feel accomplished if I can see everything without digging around for things.
You don’t have to set your goal to move a mountain today, knockout a little something off your to-do list. A the end of the day you can feel refreshed, rested, and maybe even a little accomplished.
Make Lists – In part 1 you picked up a little notebook. If you prefer an app to help you with productivity, that’s great too. I find it very gratifying to physically write down goals, see them and then cross them off when they get completed.
What do you want to accomplish in the next few weeks? Some list ideas might be: money saving goals, weight loss goals, work goals, closet inventory, vacation packing list.
Right down your goals, make lists and then plan to conquer your lists one at a time or one thing on each list every month. You’re in charge. They are your lists. The idea here is to visualize something and work to make it a reality.
Read – Start a book, finish a book, pick up a magazine, or grab a cookbook and plan a great dinner. Exercise your mind. Here’s another idea 5 Books To Transform Your Marriage.
Unplug – Take the day off from social media, tv, and internet.
This is your day to rejuvenate your mind and body. Whatever you do to accomplish this goal is your choice. Plan ahead and take care of yourself today. The rest of the world will be there ready for you to conquer it tomorrow.
