I’m obsessed with finding natural (affordable) products that work.
It can be a whole other issue to find natural products packaged for on-the-go or your carry-on bag.
Several years ago I started developing skin allergies. Oh, the joy of turning 40!!!
I used to love to spending time in the drug store make-up aisles, and stores like Ulta and Sephora. Trying new products is so fun. Mascara, lotions, lip gloss, shampoo, nail polish. Oh, my!!! And don’t get me started on the beautiful packaging!!
I still like perusing the beauty aisles, looking for the next best thing, but now I have to read the labels more closely.
Not only am I allergic to several ingredients in over-the-counter products (like fragrance), I also want to avoid ingredients like sodium laurel sulfate, parabens, and phthalates. Here’s a super simple infographic so you know what to look for and why.
In addition to fragrance and dyes, I’m allergic to the main ingredients in antiperspirant and deodorant. That makes life fun. Not!!
It can be tricky to know what to look for when you’re reading labels. Here’s a great site to check out the ingredients or “clean” rating of some of your favorite products. Another great resource is the Think Dirty app for your phone. You can scan the product right there in the store and it will immediately give you the “clean” rating. Very handy.
When I find a natural product that works, I’m over the moon. If I find natural products that can easily be put in my purse or travel bag, it’s almost like winning the lottery. Almost!!

Here are a few of my favorite natural products for traveling or on-the-go:
Box Naturals – I can’t say enough about these little individually wrapped wipes. Small and discrete, these wipes can be used in the bathroom, to remove make-up or just a general “freshening up”. They are completely free of fragrance, parabens, sulfates, and dyes. Perfect for your purse, gym bag, desk, or carry-on. I am hooked on these little wipes. And, they are scented with essential oils, so they smell heavenly.
Pacifica Deodorant Wipes – How convenient to have natural deodorant in the form of a wipe! One of the greatest aspects of these deodorant wipes is you don’t have to worry about your deodorant melting when your gym or overnight bag sits in your hot car in the summer.
Karma Naturals Nail Polish Wipes – I know it’s another wipe, but…….. Slip these in your purse for nail polish emergencies. Plus, it’s difficult to take nail polish on a plane. Karma nail polish wipes are non-toxic and perfect for travel.
100% Pure Lip and Cheek Stain – A cheek stain is terrific for days when you don’t want to wear makeup, but need a bit of color. A cheek stain is also nice for adding “natural” color under light makeup. This stain is very powerful. I recommend playing with this a bit to get used to it. When you apply it, try “dotting” it on and blending quickly.
Coconut Oil Packets – Coconut oil can be used as a moisturizer for just about anything (hair, body, lips, legs, hands, etc.). But, coconut oil can be messy to take in a travel bag. These coconut oil packets are the perfect solution. Don’t forget your coconut oil at the pool or the beach. It has a small amount of SPF and is very healing and moisturizing after you’ve been in the sun.
Natural Hand Sanitizer – Hand sanitizers have really come under scrutiny lately for their side effects. Read more here. Not only do I want to use natural products, but I also want them for my family. I love this natural hand sanitizer because it contains essential oils that can not only help with germs but help support your overall health.
