When I saw this idea over at Inspired Room, I knew I had to give it a try. I needed containers for our fresh poinsettias, so couple of pots that were collecting dust in my basement were the perfect solution.

You will need:

  • a container
  • paint, if you need to makeover a used container
  • Mod Podge (I was going to experiment with white glue until I realized I had Mod Podge on hand.)
  • Epsom salt
  • brushes

First, I started by sanding the pot to remove the previous sealer and to roughen the finish in order for the new paint to stick.

Next, I painted the pots white.

After the paint dried thoroughly, I applied the Mod Podge with a sponge brush.

Finally, I rolled the pot in Epsom salt. I also poured the salt over the Mod Podge with a spoon to cover the pot completely.

I think these turned out beautifully!

Such a good idea- I would never have thought the salt would look like snow, and stand up to the mix with modge podge. Great idea!

Amy,

I wish I could take credit for the idea, but it came from Inspired Room, who has lots of great ideas. I was just thrilled that the project turned out well! ;) Thanks for reading and commenting.
