I’m convinced each town has a secret thrift shop and I’m so excited to have found the one near me. (If you know me personally, I’d be happy to fill you in on my secret store.) If you live near a large city, there will be one near you too. I live in the county outside of our largest city and I drove into the city limits on the side of town where the homes are bigger and the clothing boutiques more expensive. Nestled behind a few other stores, I found a thrift store with many of the same boutique and mall labels.

My son has been eyeing shirts like these and they were only $2.50 each. I don’t know if you can see the labels, but they are American Eagle and Banana Republic. The retail prices are easily $40 and $80 respectively.

To find the best deals, be willing to drive to other neighborhoods, especially checking the more prestigious ones. Finding deals such as the ones I found, made the extra drive worth it.

I LOVE my local thift/consignment and Goodwill stores! I’ve also hit a few high end ones when near our big city (an hour from me). Gotta love a bargain!

I have a secret about my favorite store: The girls section is full of size small womens (I guess the people putting out the clothes don’t know the difference between girls and womens). That is where I find most of the nice name brand stuff!

Glad you found my little spot in blogworld. Yes, I whole heartedly agree.People always tell me they don’t have a good thrift store…it’s there, they just have to sniff it out. :) (well, except if they are an hour from a town…then maybe it’s true. :)
Thanks for linking up. Hopefully, you’ll get lots of traffic from it.

Great post!

I love the idea of sniffing out more thrift stores. Just when I think I have seen them all I find one that is fab for something we usually buy retail. Some are great for my clothes (plus size ladies), while others are better for kids clothing. And yet another one I got to is fantastic for books and housewares.

:)

Stop by and see me sometime over at Free2BeFrugal!

Niki,

You are right, they do seem to have their own specialties. That can making shopping at thrift stores much like a treasure hunt. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Wendy,

Great tip! You are right, my daughter can almost shop in both sections now and the clothes are often intermixed.

Thanks for sharing and stopping by!

I haven’t found the “gold mine” of thrift stores in this area, but there are two ok ones that I frequent. The place I have had the best luck is yard sales! Just today I found a bunch of Express, Ann Taylor and New York and Co clothes in brand new to excellent condition for .50 cents a piece!!! I was thrilled and bought everything in my size and the size I plan on being in a few months ;)

Jessica,

Those prices are even better than thrift stores! Great find!
