dishwasher-001
Since we own a dishwasher, we already have a time saver. I cannot imagine washing dishes by hand 3 times a day! Because we already have this modern luxury, I think it is a good idea for me to maximize the time spent on this monotonous chore even more. I found a trick not long ago that shaved a minute or so off the time spent unloading the dishwasher. Though it is only a small amount of time, it will keep the chore from becoming as tedious because less time is devoted to it.
When you load the dishwasher,  put similar items together. If you put all the spoons together, all the small forks together, etc., emptying them into your silverware tray will go much more quickly. Grouping them together when loading the dishwasher takes no extra time, but saves time in the end.
Time savers when doing dishes works for me. Do you have any timesaving tips? You can find more Works for Me Wednesday at We Are That Family.
(BTW, any WP geniuses that can help me with this spacing issue, please email me! See About Me page. Thanks!)

YES! My husband and I have debated this for years! It takes no extra time to put them in all together but quite a bit more time to sort them out later. He always said I was OCD ;) Thanks for the vindication :D

Our 6 year old is usually the one that unloads the dishwasher, and she is so excited when everyone has complied with her request to keep it organized!

Yes! And with the dividers in your basket, nothing ‘nests’ and it all gets clean!

The way our dishwasher is set up, it’s also way more space efficient to group like items together! You can fit TONS in there if you do it correctly *L*

Ooh, this is a good idea! This would also be something my preschooler could help me with. Thanks!!

I do that, too! It’s much quicker to put away the forks when I don’t have to separate the spoons and knives.

Wish I had a dishwasher!! Oh I wish I wish!

About your spacing issue, are you copying and pasting the text from another program. If you are then you have to be sure to click the “paste from Word” icon on your editor… feel free to e-mail me and I’ll see if I can help! I had the same issue a week ago and finally figured it out!

I try to put like items together. You just have to be sure your spoons don’t ‘nest’, but that isn’t a problem with your machine, I can see. What are those totally cool ‘tops’ on the utensil baskets? I’ve never seen anything like those and I wish I had them, too!

Mom2fur,
I love the lids of the baskets! They came with the machine and feel like a necessity now. You are right, none of the utensils nest together and the top is removable for larger items that still need to be in a basket. If your dishwasher is still strong and will not be replacing it soon, you probably could order a new utensil basket from the manufacturer that has a cover on it.
Thanks for reading!
Heather

Or you could just do like I do and let your kids unload it. My 2 and 1 year olds unload mine.
